Running from October 2020 to January 2021, Arctic Opportunity Explorers will equip you with digital tools and theoretical frameworks, all while being paired with mentors and guided by HelloScience’s collaboration platform, to address some of the most complex challenges facing the Arctic. The program culminates with the Arctic Opportunity Day in January where your group will present your innovation for the chance to enter the incubation and business growth phase of the HelloScience process.

As one of the first ever Arctic Opportunity Explorers, you are the pioneers, and we will be showcasing and promoting your journey throughout the challenge.

Identify a challenge, collaborate to solve it

You may already have your own group, but if not, we’ll help get you situated. By working together you must identify a challenge that exists in Arctic communities today that is connected to sustainable development with a component related to either gender equality or the rights and well-being of children.

Once you understand the scope of your challenge, you’ll be assisted by mentors to collaboratively ideate and iterate potential solutions. The final version of your idea will be presented and judged at the Arctic Opportunity Day where you’ll receive a certificate for your participation and the chance to enter the incubation and business growth phase of the HelloScience process.

SDGs as lanterns

The Sustainable Development Goals will help guide you on your collaborative journey. The Arctic challenge will have a strategic focus on sustainable development, gender equality and the well-being of children, translating into SDG 3, SDG 5 and SDG 17.
