While the world grapples with a global pandemic and the unpredictabilities of climate change, there’s another issue that continues to threaten millions around the globe; the ongoing water crisis in developing countries.
2.1 Billion people currently don’t have access to safe drinking water. Leading to illnesses and a huge environmental impact for the ones choosing to boil the water with charcoal. For too long, communities have been locked out of the resources they need to regain control over their health. Awareness for this issue continues to grow but access to sufficient, reliable, and affordable drinking water continues to be a systemic issue in countries worldwide.
SaWa bag is a water purification device made from laminated plastic; it utilizes a 25-year-old method of water pasteurization, which uses UV rays to kill 99.999% of pathogens usually found in water, making the water as clean as boiled water.
One SaWa bag lasts for 500 cycles and cleans four litres of water per cycle, equivalent to a year’s worth of drinking water for two persons. We are the cheapest, non-chemical water purification device currently on the market.
SolarSacks long lifespan and material composition means that SolarSack has almost no carbon emissions. The main alternative to purifying water is by boiling it, a process which emits 600 times more CO2 and uses charcoal from more than 2 large trees.
